First Impressions

I’m a writer, architect and teacher based in London. I studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, where I was also assistant editor of LOBBY magazine. I’ve been teaching at Chelsea College of Arts for four years and now teach across Interior Design, ISD and MA ISD courses, mostly concentrating on history and theory. Alongside teaching I also write on art and literature for Frieze and Art Review, and in 2019 my first novel, Other Rooms, was published by Hesterglock Press — I’m currently working on my next for Gordian Projects. In 2020 I’ll be a visiting lecturer at The University of Bergen where I will be delivering a lecture series on picturesque landscapes.

I’ve always approached teaching by trying to avoid all the things that frustrated me while studying, and by completing the PgCert I hope to formalise the ideas I’ve gathered in relation to this and frame them against current educational discourse.
